JD VANCE hit back at his own Ukraine war hero cousin, saying he would be “happy to talk” despite being blasted as “Putin’s idiot”.

Nate Vance, 47, has reportedly spent years fighting against Russia’s terrorist invasion and issued a scathing attack on JD and Trump in a bombshell interview.

JD’s cousin denounced the Vice President for “ambushing” Volodymyr Zelensky in the shocking Oval Office meeting that heightened tensions between the two nations.

The Vice President’s cousin slammed JD for allegedly not reaching out to him in years, despite leaving messages with the vice president’s office.

Nate said: “His own cousin was on the front lines. I could have told him the truth, without pretence, without personal interest.

“He never tried to find out more.”

JD hit back at his kin and revealed why he has not spoken out about Nate fighting on the frontline, according to The New York Post.

The Vice President said: “I love my cousin Nate, and never spoke publicly about his service in Ukraine because I didn’t want to endanger his life more than it already was.”

JD dodged his cousin’s scathing remarks about his involvement with Ukraine but had a bone to pick about his claims on their relationship.

He added: “As far as his criticisms, I have no interest in arguing with him in public, but I do feel the need to address one issue in particular: his failed effort to contact me.”

The Vice President praised Nate for being the “toughest guy I knew ” but hit back by saying he could have reached out to his mom, dad, or sister, for a response.

JD said: “I always considered Nate the toughest guy I knew, and no matter what he says about me, my affection for him remains.

JD Vance sparks fury with Ukraine jibe, here’s how Europe reacted

“I’m always happy to talk to him.”

This family drama erupted after Nate told French newspaper Le Figaro that JD should talk to him about the realities of Ukraine’s situation.

Hero Nate is believed to have rushed to defend Ukraine’s borders after Putin illegally invaded over three years ago.

He is said to have travelled to Ukraine just three weeks into the war and reportedly formed part of the “Da Vinci Wolves” First Motorized Battalion volunteer unit.

Nate even revealed he was forced to abandon his Ukrainian fighter partners behind in January when his cousin swore an oath to become Trump’s right hand man.

He said it had become too complicated to fight on from a political perspective as if he had been caught it would’ve caused a number of issues for Washington.

JD has fiercely been against US support in Ukraine since Putin’s illegal invasion started in 2022.

Nate bashed JD’s stance and said: “Just because I’m related to you doesn’t mean I’m going to stand by and watch you get my comrades killed.”

Both JD and Nate served in the US Marines when they were younger with the VP managing to avoid any combat during his four years in the military.

Nate has since spent his post Marine Corps years fighting in Europe.

The cousin shared why he believed Trump’s increasingly closer relationship with warlord Putin could lead to the US becoming drawn into the Russians horrific games.

Nate added: “Donald Trump and my cousin clearly believe they can placate Vladimir Putin. They are wrong.

“The Russians are not about to forget our support for Ukraine. We are Vladimir Putin’s useful idiots.”
