Jeremy Corbyn, the socialist former Labour leader, appears set to make a substantial return on his North London property after accepting an offer from a buyer.
The 77-year-old politician’s three-bedroom terraced house, described in its listing as “charming,” had most recently been advertised for £700,000 and is now marked as sold subject to contract.
The final sale price has not yet been disclosed, but Land Registry records show Mr Corbyn bought the home in 2007 for £363,000, meaning he could come close to doubling his original investment.
Mr Corbyn, the long-serving Islington North MP who entered Parliament in 1983 and later founded the left-wing Your Party, had previously attempted to sell the same property for £1 million three years ago.
This year, the North London home returned to the market at £800,000 in March, before a series of reductions saw the asking price lowered to £780,000 in April, £750,000 in May and finally £700,000.
During his time as Labour leader between 2015 and 2020, the 77-year-old was frequently seen walking out of the address to face questions from TV cameras and members of the public.

Many neighbours on his street in Islington, North London, are also thought to be staunch socialists and were supporters when he was Labour leader, so may be sad to see him leave.
Asked what it was like to live next to Mr Corbyn, one said: ‘He’s very nice’.
Corbyn has lived there with his wife Laura Alvarez, a Mexican businesswoman and fair trade coffee importer.
The £700,000 price tag puts it well above the average house price sale for England of £291,000 and above the London average of £663,000.

The house has a 26ft back garden, three double bedrooms, two reception rooms, all set over three storeys.

Inside the lounge are three packed bookshelves and a dining table.
The short property description said the address is in ‘a quiet street located close to the many amenities of Seven Sisters and Holloway Road and is a short walk to the green space of Finsbury Park as well as the underground and overground stations, with great links to the City and West End’.
The property, registered as Band E for council tax so liable for a £2,577 annual bill, has a gas boiler and an Energy Performance Certificate rating of D
In 2023, in an interview with the Evening Standard, Mr Corbyn described life in north London.
He said: ‘Walking around with me is very slow — someone will always stop me in the street to follow up on or raise new issues, so I never leave home without my notebook.
‘The fascinating part of it is watching families grow up and people moving in and out. People from all over the world make their home here, so there’s a lovely atmosphere. It’s a great place. It’s home.’

When describing his dream street, he said: ‘I like the one I’m on. It’s very friendly and very mixed.’
In 2018, Mr Corbyn and his partner were refused planning permission to extend the ground floor with Islington Council saying it would ‘harm the appearance, rhythm and integrity of the terrace and the area’.
He instead carried out changes which did not require planning permission – including installing mirrored glass in windows facing the street to stop passers-by looking inside.
In 2019, the address was targeted by climate campaigners who glued their hands and chained themselves to Mr Corbyn’s garden fence outside, demanding he declare a ‘climate emergency’.
