Donald Trump’s press secretary opened up about her marriage in a rare instance in a recent interview on the Megyn Kelly Show.

Riccio, a real estate tycoon, and Leavitt got engaged in December 2023 and gave birth to their first son, Niko, in July 2024.

Leavitt revealed in a recent Instagram post the couple got married on January 4, 2025, at an intimate country club wedding in their home state of New Hampshire.

In a podcast episode released on February 21, Leavitt told Kelly a friend first introduced her to Riccio while she was running for Congress in New Hampshire in 2022.

“A mutual friend of ours hosted an event at a restaurant that he owns up in New Hampshire and invited my husband,” she said.

“I was speaking. We met and we were acquainted as friends. And then we fell in love.”

When Kelly asked if she had been wary about the 32 years in between them, Leavitt responded “Of course.”

“I mean it’s a very atypical love story but he’s incredible,” she gushed.

“He’s the father of my child and he’s the best dad I could ever ask for.”

She added Riccio is supportive during a “very chaotic period of life” as Leavitt has been busy with Trump starting his second presidency.

“I say, ‘I walked into your life and it’s been a circus ever since,’ but God bless him because he’s fully on board,” she said.

She opened up to Kelly about how she balances motherhood and being the youngest press secretary to ever work in the White House.

Leavitt also opened up about her college days and spoke about how she started her career by simply applying for an internship during Trump’s first presidency.

She said her job is “all-encompassing” and “exhausting” but that she enjoys working for Trump.
