Karoline Leavitt Lands Fox News Role After Leaving White House

Former White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt is joining Fox News as a contributor after leaving the Trump administration in August.

Leavitt, 29, stepped down to spend more time with her two children. The New York Times reported that she will now work with Fox News as an on-demand contributor.

Contributors at major cable news networks typically appear as booked guests for interviews, commentary and special coverage.

According to the report, Leavitt will begin her new role on November 1.

Leavitt was contacted for comment.

The hiring news comes days after President Donald Trump sharply criticized Fox News for not airing live coverage of several campaign rallies ahead of the midterm elections.

“Sad to see that Fox & Friends (Sunday) is not covering our packed house and incredibly enthusiastic (beyond!) Rally that took place in Ohio last night, or the ones in Alabama, Texas, or Oklahoma over the past two days,” Trump wrote on social media Sunday morning.

“It’s the old undercurrent at FoxNews! Other networks are reporting about these Rallies, and really positively, like ‘crazy!’ Our people want to see our Rallies, and reports on our Rallies, on FoxNews, or they will very quickly stop watching (like I am doing right now!).”

Trump also accused the network of devoting more coverage to communists and socialists. He blamed what he called the poor editorial decisions on “the same loser that fired the great Maria Bartiromo,” the former Fox Business host who parted ways with the network weeks earlier.

Leavitt, who is firmly still in the center of the MAGA movement, has been given speaking positions at major GOP and White House events and prime-time Fox News hits since departing at the end of August

Leavitt remains closely aligned with the MAGA movement and has continued appearing at major Republican and White House events, as well as in prime-time Fox News segments, since leaving office in late August

Leavitt gave birth to her daughter, Viviana, known as “Vivi,” in May. When announcing her departure, she said she would remain an outspoken supporter of the MAGA movement and the Republican Party. Since then, she has appeared regularly on Fox News and spoken at high-profile Republican events.

In addition to appearances on Sean Hannity’s and Jesse Watters’ prime-time programs, Leavitt secured prominent speaking roles at the GOP midterm convention in Dallas and at last week’s White House launch of an artificial intelligence-powered government website.

Although Trump’s relationship with the Rupert Murdoch-owned network has become strained, the president has repeatedly turned to Fox News for senior administration officials.

Secretary of War Pete Hegseth was a regular weekend host on Fox News before Trump selected him to lead the Pentagon.

Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy also previously worked for Fox Business, while his wife, Rachel Campos Duffy, remains employed by the network.

Trump has favored Fox News for years, requiring the network to be shown on televisions throughout the White House, executive departments and federal agencies, as well as aboard Air Force One.

The connection between Trump and Fox News has also benefited the president’s family and political circle.

Lara Trump, the president’s daughter-in-law and Eric Trump’s wife, hosts a weekend program on Fox News.

Leavitt now follows in the footsteps of Trump's first-term press secretary Kayleigh McEnany, the co-host of the network's day time program 'Outnumbered,' in joining Fox News

Leavitt is now following in the footsteps of several press secretaries before her who have headed for cable following stints at the White House.

Trump’s first-term press secretary Kayleigh McEnany currently serves as a co-host of Fox News’ ‘Outnumbered’ daytime program. President George W Bush’s ex-press secretary Dana Perino also hosts several programs for the network.

Jen Psaki, the ex-press sec for President Joe Biden, now hosts a prime-time show on MS NOW.
