A COMEDIAN joked that Joe Rogan would end up getting him canceled as he starred on the commentator’s podcast.
Katt Williams appeared on The Joe Rogan Experience where he and the host discussed a variety of issues from cars to menthol cigarettes.
Menthol cigarettes are more addictive and there have been attempts to get the flavor banned for more than a decade.
More than 80% of black smokers smoke menthol cigarettes and officials at the Food and Drug Administration have worked for years trying to ban the flavor.
But the issue has sparked debate among civil rights groups who fear the ban would unfairly target black smokers, ABC reported.
“You’re gonna get me canceled. This is very racist, this conversation,” Williams joked to Rogan as the topic was brought up.
Scientists say that such a ban could potentially stop up to 650,000 smoking deaths over decades.
Supporters of a ban have grown concerned after reports surfaced that it may not happen until the end of the year.
They fear a ban might not be rolled out before November’s presidential election.
Some White House officials worry about the potential impacts such a ban could have on Joe Biden’s re-election chances, per the Washington Post.
Massachusetts was one of the first states to outlaw flavored tobacco items, including menthol cigarettes, in 2020.
Retailers in California are also banned from selling flavored tobacco.
Last month, the Supreme Court threw out a challenge to the ban.
The mom of Eric Garner claimed a ban on menthol cigarettes could be racist, per The Times Union.
Garner, an African American man, died in 2014 after being put in a chokehold by then-New York Police Department cop Daniel Pantaleo
FDA bosses proposed the ban in April 2022 but a ruling wasn’t issued when it was expected in August last year.
During the show, Williams also promoted his upcoming Netflix special that will air live on May 4.
He opened up about his love of driving.
Rogan described the comic’s all-electric Rolls Royce Spectre as insane.
He said he’s never owned a Rolls Royce, while Williams quipped it’s important for Rogan to stay grounded.
Rogan revealed he’s only into mechanical vehicles.
“There’s something about mechanical vehicles that just speaks to me. I love them,” he said.
“I love looking at them. I love sitting in them. I love driving them.
“It’s one of the things that people say ‘Money can’t buy happiness.’ That’s definitely true.
“You f**ked up, you’re not going to get happier if you get rich but if you’re already reasonably happy and you can afford a nice muscle car, God damn you’ll feel happier.”
Rogan has interviewed A-listers on the show, including sports entertainment icons.
Hulk Hogan opened up on the surgeries he had undergone during his career and revealed he was prescribed fentanyl without realizing it.
Rogan has also discussed topics including cancel culture, alien conspiracy theories, artificial intelligence, and politics in previous episodes of the show.
