A second woman who was bitten by a King’s Guard horse has warned tourists attending the Coronation: ‘Be careful… Don’t get as close as I did.’

Kirsty Curtis, 43, was bitten on the arm when she ventured too close to the horse in Horse Guards Parade.

She was left with bruising from the bite which caused her pain, but did not require hospital treatment.

Her husband, Nigel, 59, saw the funny side of it, and kept the image he took of the bitinf incident as a screensaver for his phone.

He and his wife, who works as a manager at an NHS hospital in Chester, read the Mai Online story while on holiday in Mexico on Thursday and saw the video of the shocking moment a horse at the same place clamped down on a woman’s ponytail as she posed for a photo.

Mrs Curtis, who is from Wrexham said: ‘We had taken my father Peter to London to see where he lived, as he used to live in Walthamstow.

‘We went to Parliament to see PMQ’s with David Cameron and decided to have a walk through Whitehall afterwards.

‘My husband decided to take a picture of me in front of the horse, but suddenly it bit me. It was shocking and did cause pain, but it is our fault.

“The soldier looked down at me and I could see by his face he thought “another one!”

‘ I am an animal lover and we have to consider that these horses are just doing their job. If you get too close, you can pay the price.

‘I would say to people who are coming to London for the coronation, not to fall in the same situation that I did. Be careful and keep your distance.’

Hundreds of thousands of spectators next Saturday for the coronation of King, Charles, and many horses will be on ceremonial duties.

Mr Curtis added: ‘It could’ve been a lot worse.

‘But luckily she was okay, and we have laughed about it since.

‘When I saw the video of the woman’s ponytail being bitten, it reminded me of what happened to my wife.

‘It was funny, and it still is as I have the picture on my phone as my screensaver.

‘But people do need to be careful. Although no one can criticise the horses, they are only doing their job.’
