Bread, turkey bacon, and Ritz crackers sold at Kroger might have safety concerns, including labels skipping over allergens and possible bacterial contamination.

RECALLED BREAD

Shoppers who have bought Hartford Bakery Inc.’s Lewis Bake Shop Artisan Style 1/2 Loaf should be careful, especially if they’re allergic to hazelnuts.

The manufacturer warned that the product might have undeclared hazelnuts.

“Bags labeled as Lewis Artisan Bread may contain Lewis Nutty Oat Bread which has hazelnut, a known tree nut and allergen,” Kroger said on their website.

Six lots of the product were recalled at locations in Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Ohio, Tennessee, and Wisconsin on July 2.

The packaging says the product “may contain tree nuts” but doesn’t say anything about hazelnuts.

The recall was issued after 883 loaves of bread were found to have hazelnuts, according to the Food and Drug Administration.

“While there have been no major reports of injury or illness to date, Hartford Bakery is aware of one customer who experienced digestive discomfort after consumption,” the FDA notice said.

“Hartford Bakery also received consumer complaints from those who saw the nuts before consuming the product.”

The mislabeled bread could cause a severe reaction in people allergic to tree nuts, possibly even resulting in death.

The bread is also sold at Walmart locations across America.

Another mistake in labeling has also led to more safety concerns at Kroger.

RITZ CHEESE CRACKERS

NABISCO Ritz Sandwich crackers sold at Kroger have been recalled due to potentially being labeled wrong.

The packs might be incorrectly labeled as cheese snacks, while actually containing peanut butter crackers.

Nabisco Ritz Sandwich Crackers 20 count variety packs, Nabisco Ritz Peanut Butter Cracker Sandwiches, and Nabisco Ritz Peanut Butter Sandwich Cracker 8 count were recalled on July 8.

Expecting to bite into a cheese cracker and tasting peanut butter might be surprising enough on its own, but this mix-up could be dangerous to anyone with a tree nut allergy.

Mondelēz Global LLC products announced the voluntary recall of four carton sizes on July 8.

However, shoppers who only bought RITZ Cheese Cracker Sandwiches don’t need to worry because they weren’t affected in this recall.

Plus, the recall was issued out of precaution as no one has reported injury or illness yet.

The recall affects some products sold in Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, North Carolina, Ohio, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, and West Virginia.

‘CONTAMINATED’ BACON

Kraft Heinz Foods Company has recalled over 367,000 pounds of fully cooked turkey bacon products sold in Kroger stores.

The meat products might be contaminated with listeria, according to the FDA.

Listeria could cause severe illness to pregnant women or people with weak immune systems.

The bacon was sold at Kroger stores in Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, North Carolina, Ohio, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia, according to the store.

The 12-ounce packages were recalled on July 2.

Anyone with recalled products can return the items to the Kroger where they bought them for a full refund.

Kroger didn’t immediately return The U.S. Sun’s request for comment.
