Unfriendly Skies: Flight Carrying Congressmen to D.C. Gets Diverted Over One AWFL's Disruptive Rant

During a recent flight, a woman found herself seated alongside four members of Congress. Seizing the moment, she decided to voice her opinions, exercising her right to free speech.

Indeed, she did.

Fellow traveler Adam Burtner captured the incident on video, including the moment when authorities escorted her off the plane and her final remarks.

WATCH:

As expected, the situation involved someone often referred to as a “Karen.”

Another passenger on the flight, Adam Burtner, caught the cops escorting her out and her parting words.

Of course, it was a Karen. It always is.

About an hour after the plane was diverted, it took off again from Kansas City International, touching down at Reagan National Airport at 9:01 p.m.

At the height of the pandemic in 2021, when it appeared that the number of disruptive and unruly passengers was at its highest, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) adopted a zero-tolerance policy for disruptive passengers.

So, along with being arrested in a different city than the one she intended to land, Sister AWFL (Affluent White Female Liberal) could face more jail time, fines of up to $37,000, and restricted travel or being placed on No-Fly lists.

American Airlines issued a statement to the press concerning this incident:

On Nov. 11, American Airlines flight 1218, with service from Phoenix (PHX) to Washington, DC (DCA), diverted to Kansas City (MCI) due to a disruptive customer. Law enforcement met the flight and removed the customer, and the flight later re-departed for DCA, where it landed normally. We thank our customers for their patience and our crew members for their professionalism.

It’s a good thing this happened on Tuesday, as these congressman needed to be on the House floor on Wednesday to cast their vote to reopen the government. While they were merely inconvenienced, the other passengers may well have missed connections or important events or meetings, because this AWFL just couldn’t contain herself. And not just the passengers on that flight, but the cascade of flights and passengers that were no doubt horribly disrupted because ONE plane had to be diverted thanks to one selfish individual.

But, you know, “fascist state,” and all that. Bottom line: check yourself, before you wreck yourself, and others.
