Utah authorities have confirmed shots were fired on a campus where conservative activist Charlie Kirk was speaking on Wednesday

Bystanders said he was shot near the neck during the event at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah, the Deseret News reported. As news broke of the incident, several Republican lawmakers and right-wing pundits took to social media to condemn the incident.

“Say a prayer for Charlie Kirk, a genuinely good guy and a young father,” Vice President Vance wrote on social media.

In Washington, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) filed an amendment Wednesday that will force Republicans to go on record over the release of the Jeffrey Epstein files.

On the other side of the Capitol, the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee’s meeting on bills that take aim at crime in the District of Columbia has been charged.

Russia’s apparent incursion into Polish airspace has senators calling for a vote on a Russian sanctions bill. President Trump offered a brief reaction on Truth Social to the brazen move by Russian President Vladimir Putin that stands to escalate the war with Ukraine and tensions with Europe: “What’s with Russia violating Poland’s airspace with drones? Here we go!”

Tensions are also on the rise in the Middle East after Israel carried out a strike against Hamas leaders in Doha, and Qatar has vowed to retaliate. Trump said Tuesday evening he was “not thrilled” with the attack.

Trump on Wednesday will host another dinner of the “Rose Garden Club” in the newly renovated White House Rose Garden.
