President Trump opens the week with a high-stakes phone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday morning. It follows talks in Turkey late last week.

The president announced the call in a Truth Social post on Saturday, saying the main thrust of the conversation would be “stopping the bloodbath” that is killing both Russian and Ukrainian soldiers. Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told Russian news agency TASS that the call would happen at 10 a.m. EDT. Trump said he would speak with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky after his Putin call.

Press secretary Karoline Leavitt is scheduled to brief reporters at 9 a.m. EDT, potentially previewing the call. She may also mention the forward motion on Trump’s agenda, with the House Budget panel approving the chamber’s reconciliation bill in a late Sunday vote.

Early Monday, a day after it was announced Joe Biden has prostate cancer, the former president put out a new statement in a post on X.

“Cancer touches us all. Like so many of you, Jill and I have learned that we are strongest in the broken places. Thank you for lifting us up with love and support,” he said, posting a photo of himself with former first lady Jill Biden.
