According to some accounts, Charro Lomeli was shot by two assailants from another vehicle while he was operating his Dodge Ram truck on Juan Alonso de Torres Boulevard in the San Jeronimo area of Leon, Guanajuato. According to reports, Lomeli was en route to the gym at the moment of the attack. He tried to shift the car into reverse, which led to an accident involving another car. Authorities are still gathering information from the scene and accessible security footage as part of their continuing investigation.

Shortly before his training session started, it was rumoured that Batista posted his whereabouts on social media. Why the men chose to target Batista is unknown. Police raced to the murder scene but the suspects moved rapidly away, making it impossible for them to be apprehended.
