Married At First Sight star Tim Calwell is set to walk down the aisle again, announcing his engagement to his Brazilian girlfriend Barbara following two years together.
The former reality TV groom revealed the romantic news on Saturday after proposing during a couple’s getaway in New Zealand. Tim’s previous televised marriage to Sara Mesa did not lead to lasting love.
The 34-year-old Gold Coast businessman got down on one knee with a dramatic mountain landscape behind him, presenting Barbara with a sparkling diamond ring.
Barbara shared the couple’s engagement with her Instagram followers, posting a collection of romantic images from the unforgettable proposal.
“Engaged to the love of my life!!! ❤️” she wrote in the caption.
Tim responded to his fiancée’s announcement with a kiss emoji and a red heart in the comments.

The newly engaged couple looked thrilled as they marked the occasion amid snow-covered peaks and the striking scenery of a glacial lake.
In one loved-up snap, Barbara cuddled close to her fiancé while proudly displaying the large diamond ring on her finger.
She kept warm in a camouflage-print puffer jacket and a knitted beanie decorated with colourful patches.
Barbara also showed off her lavender manicure as she lifted her left hand towards the camera, giving fans a clear look at the dazzling stone set on its delicate band.
Tim appeared just as delighted, smiling broadly in a white fleece jumper and khaki knitted beanie.
A second image showed the proposal itself, with Tim kneeling on a rocky shoreline and holding out the ring box as Barbara stared back in disbelief.
Clearly overwhelmed by the surprise, Barbara placed both hands over her mouth while her future husband smiled up at her.
The engagement begins a joyful new chapter for Tim, who rose to fame after appearing on the 2024 season of Married At First Sight.

Tim and Barbara started their relationship soon after his difficult marriage to Sydney-based nutritionist Sara Mesa came to an end.
Their romance was first revealed exclusively by Daily Mail in April 2024, when Barbara began posting affectionate photos of the pair on her private Instagram account.

At the time, the glamorous brunette had posted a sweet birthday tribute to Tim, making it clear the pair were already smitten.
‘Bday boy Appreciation post for this handsome man who makes me happy every day!’ she wrote.
The couple first met in February 2024, just weeks after Tim’s ill-fated marriage to Sara began airing on Channel Nine.
Their romance quickly blossomed, with the pair spotted enjoying everyday outings together, including picking up takeaway food and drinks before visiting a nursery to buy plants.
However, their relationship initially raised eyebrows following Tim’s dramatic split from his television bride.
Speaking to Daily Mail at the time, Tim adamantly denied suggestions he had been romantically involved with anyone else while filming the dating experiment.

‘I don’t know why, if she’s bringing that up… she’s trying to throw heat on my end to try and distract, maybe, from whatever going on in her ballpark.’
Tim also opened up about his difficult relationship with Sara, admitting their marriage had become increasingly strained.
‘It was definitely very up and down. Almost toxic at this point, I don’t know,’ he said.
‘We were trying our best to be in a relationship. The whole experience is very intense anyway… it was definitely wasn’t comfortable for me.’

One particularly explosive dinner party saw Tim confront Sara over her repeatedly cancelling dates, sparking a furious exchange between the pair.

‘I was getting really frustrated by being spoken over and talked down to,’ he explained.
‘My feelings and my opinions were just being thrown back in my face and it just felt like nothing I had to say was valid.’
Despite their attempts to make the relationship work, Tim and Sara ultimately went their separate ways after the experiment.
