Senator Chuck Schumer of New York, who currently serves as the Senate Minority Leader, issued a statement on Monday regarding “multiple bomb threats” directed at three of his offices across the state. Known for his experience in dealing with political threats and rhetoric, Schumer highlighted the seriousness of the situation.
According to Schumer, law enforcement notified him that his offices located in Rochester, Binghamton, and Long Island had received threats via an email account. Notably, the email contained references to the MAGA movement and allegations of a “rigged” 2020 presidential election.
A source familiar with the matter indicated that Suffolk County police responded to Schumer’s Long Island office. However, law enforcement officials have not publicly confirmed the specifics of these threats.
Schumer’s statement raises several questions. The email subject reportedly mentioned “MAGA,” and the address contained claims about the 2020 election. This has led to speculation about the motivations behind the threats and whether they could be linked to political figures or movements.
It’s worth noting that Schumer’s offices have previously been the focus of attention. Just a few months ago, his New York City office was the site of protests by activists supporting the Gaza Strip, some of whom wore shirts with slogans like “Let Gaza Live” and “Jews Say Let Gaza Live.” Such incidents underscore the ongoing tensions surrounding his political presence.

“This morning, I was informed by law enforcement entities throughout New York of multiple bomb threats that were made at my offices in Rochester, Binghamton, and Long Island with the email subject line “MAGA” and from an email address alleging the “2020 election was rigged.” Local and federal law enforcement responded immediately and are conducting full security sweeps. Everyone is safe, and I am grateful for their quick and professional response to ensure these offices remain safe and secure for all New Yorkers.”
“As I have said many times, these kinds of violent threats have absolutely no place in our political system. No one—no public servant, no staff member, no constituent, no citizen—should ever be targeted for simply doing their job.”
An anonymous person with knowledge of the situation has reportedly confirmed that Suffolk County police responded to Schumer’s Long Island office, but details of the alleged threats were not confirmed by law enforcement.
A few questions spring to mind when reading Schumer’s statement. The email subject line was “MAGA”? Come on. And the email address itself alleged the “2020 election was rigged”? Was there a noose and a Subway sandwich involved, too? Was the “This is MAGA country” email handle already taken? Are we certain that Donald Trump himself didn’t make the threats?
It should be pointed out that the last time we covered violence at a Chuck Schumer office was just a few months back when a crowd of seething pro-Hamas radicals, also known as his left-most constituents, stormed his New York City outpost wearing “Let Gaza Live” and “Jews Say Let Gaza Live” t-shirts. So, there’s precedent.
