Mamdani Dubbed ‘Thin-Skinned’ in Scathing Report: New Nickname Unveiled

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani is known for his ever-present smile during public appearances. This demeanor, which might be intended to deflect attention from his controversial remarks and actions, doesn’t mask the reality that many are noticing underneath.

Recent reports to the NY Post shed light on Mamdani’s sensitivity to public scrutiny and how he is perceived as “thin-skinned” by those around him.

In private, Mamdani reportedly confronts critics who challenge him openly, holds onto personal grievances against fellow politicians, and selectively replies to messages, particularly when addressing negative press. This perspective comes from interviews conducted with over a dozen elected officials, consultants, and other influential figures in politics.

“It’s becoming more apparent that he struggles to cope with criticism, particularly from elected officials whom he believes he can dominate,” noted a political consultant.

This behavior has led some insiders to describe him as a bully, creating reluctance among political peers to challenge “a sensitive mayor with whom they must engage on governance and political matters.”

The report indicated he was upset when Jewish leaders told him to “stop fanning the flames of hatred”
against Israel after an alleged antisemitic stabbing attack in the city. He called at least one elected official complaining about being told to tone it down, and upset that the criticism was related to him calling Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu a war criminal. 

Mamdani is also sensitive to criticism of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) since he’s one of their most prominent members. So when the Queens Borough President Donovan Richards claimed the DSA was “white supremacy” in an X post, highlighting what some see as an issue between the DSA and some minorities, Mamdani allegedly tried to get Richards to shut down the post. 

“He’s so thin-skinned and reads everything,” one City Council member said.

Mamdani is also allegedly tough on staff, and treats people who cross him with a “cold demeanor,” the report said.  

According to a Democrat operative: 

“He has been known to hold grudges against whoever challenges him or his positions for even some of the smallest of slights, and those people get sent to the back of the line unless he needs something.”

Mamdani is even more sensitive than former mayor Bill de Blasio, according to the report. 

We reported how Mamdani was allegedly fuming after he was snubbed from being allowed to deliver remarks for a slain soldier at the funeral. Then, too, you know it had to have been eating at him when he was booed, and some shouted at him to leave at a Staten Island event on Tuesday. He only spoke for about a minute before he left the stage.
