A 25-year-old man has been charged after he allegedly fled the scene of a Melbourne crash in which a woman was fatally injured.
The 53-year woman died in hospital on Sunday after Friday night’s collision at Point Cook about 27 km southwest of Melbourne.
Police said the Point Cook woman’s Volkswagen Golf collided with a Holden Commodore which ran a red light at the intersection of Dunnings Rd and Boardwalk Blvd about 11pm.

The other driver allegedly fled on foot while a passenger stayed behind.
Officers arrested a man at a Point Cook address a short time later and charged him with negligently causing serious injury, failing to stop and render assistance and other traffic offences.
Investigators are appealing for witnesses to the crash or anyone who saw the purple Holden on Dunnings Rd before the collision to come forward.
