During Wednesday’s airing of CNN’s “The Story Is,” Representative Maxine Waters from California expressed her view that the media fails to confront President Donald Trump when he uses derogatory language towards individuals.

Host Elex Michaelson brought attention to her controversial remark, calling the President a “low down, dirty, no good, filthy President.” He questioned whether such statements exacerbate national tensions and deepen societal divisions. Waters was unperturbed, responding, “I don’t care what they say. The President consistently resorts to name-calling. Recently, he referred to a female journalist as ‘piggy’ and labeled another person a ‘big, fat slob.’ He does this routinely and faces no media backlash. Therefore, I feel entirely justified and unrestrained in responding candidly about my opinions of him.”

Waters responded, “I don’t care what they say. Let me tell you, the President of the United States calls everybody names. And he just said to a journalist, a woman journalist, called her piggy. He called someone a big, fat slob. And so, he’s doing it all the time. He gets away with it. The media does not challenge him, does not resist him. And so, I feel very comfortable and very free hitting him back and talking about what I think about him.”
