HOUSE Speaker Mike Johnson was caught roasting Joe Biden on a hot microphone before Donald Trump gave his address to Congress.

Johnson was seen having small talk with Vice President JD Vance before Trump addressed lawmakers on Tuesday night.

Vance quipped to Johnson that the speech was going to be “great” before adding: “ I don’t know how you do this for 90 minutes.”

It prompted the Speaker, who presided over Biden’s final State of the Union address, to slam Trump’s predecessor.

“’The hardest thing was doing it during Biden when the speech was a stupid campaign speech,” he said.

Almost immediately after making the dig, Johnson then pushed the mic down.

  • Trump reveals a surprise letter he received from Zelensky and insists Russia has given him ‘strong signals’ they are ready for peace

Biden was defiant during his final State of the Union address in March 2024.

He wanted to prove his doubters wrong that he wasn’t too old to seek re-election.

Biden’s address took place four months before he abandoned his re-election bid.

Calls for Biden to drop out of the race escalated following a disastrous debate with Trump in Atlanta that was hosted by CNN in June.

Johnson’s quip didn’t go unnoticed on social media.

One viewer commented on X that Johnson is slowly winning him over.

“Mike Johnson with the subtle mic drop,” another fan commented.

10 fieriest moments from defiant Trump’s first Congress speech

“Biden speeches do test patience, gotta admit!”

Another viewer pointed out Johnson’s facial reactions during Biden’s addresses to Congress.

Trump spoke for more than an hour and a half as he doubled down on his America First agenda.

He was unfazed by the petty Democrats who tried to disrupt proceedings.

Democrats booed while Republicans cheered as Trump kicked off his address by vowing “America is back.”

Texas congressman Al Green, who has threatened to file articles of impeachment against the president, was hauled out for heckling.

Other Democrats held up signs, while some boycotted the address entirely including firebrand congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

Jill Tokuda, a Hawaii congresswoman, sported a pink outfit and held up a sign saying “save Medicaid.”

A minority of Democrats defied Hakeem Jeffries’ order to have a “dignified” presence at the address.

Trump vowed that his team had achieved more in six weeks than previous administrations that had served four- or eight-year terms.

He promised to make America more “affordable” and boasted he ended diversity initiatives.

The president also gave a shout out to his billionaire pal Elon Musk, who spearheads the Department of Government Efficiency.

He was wearing a suit and tie in what has been interpreted as a dig at Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky.

Zelensky was called out by one reporter after he didn’t wear a suit when visiting the White House on Friday.

During his speech, Trump also revealed that Zelensky had penned a letter, begging for US help to end the war.

He addressed Congress just days after his White House fireplace chat with Zelensky turned into chaos.

The president accused the Ukrainian leader of gambling with the lives of “millions” and risking World War 3.

Trump also vowed to take Greenland one way or the other as he continues to press for control of the territory.

Trump considers the island to be important for security reasons.
