Milo Yiannopoulos’ Black Husband Says He Felt ‘Enslaved’ in Their Marriage

When Milo Yiannopoulos appeared on Piers Morgan’s programme this month after being deported from the US to Britain, he portrayed himself as a “successful millionaire” with a steady job, living in Los Angeles with his husband and their two much-loved cats.

However, the Daily Mail reports that the British provocateur’s private life was in turmoil, a stark contrast to the settled domestic routine he said had been abruptly taken from him.

His husband, John McKinley Campbell, 42, filed for divorce last year, while their two Bengal cats, Bear and Scrappy, have become central to a bitter dispute in Los Angeles Superior Court.

In court documents, Campbell alleges that Yiannopoulos, 41, was violent and racially abusive during their nine-year marriage. Campbell claims Yiannopoulos called him a “stupid worthless n****r” and told him: “I pay. You obey.”

The filings contain a series of troubling text messages allegedly sent by Yiannopoulos, including purported threats to kill Campbell and an alleged admission that he had used him to secure a Green Card. Yiannopoulos has strongly denied the allegations.

The former Trump supporter who later became a critic was arrested by Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers at New Orleans Airport, Louisiana, late last month on accusations that he had overstayed his visa. Laura Loomer, a MAGA activist and former friend, said she alerted ICE and described his deportation as a victory for the country.

The Department of Homeland Security shared a photograph on social media showing an unshaven and dishevelled Yiannopoulos, part of a series of arrest images the agency has released while promoting its immigration enforcement crackdown.

Days later, Yiannopoulos told Morgan that he would fight his removal. He maintained that he had been legally living in the US through his husband’s Green Card sponsorship and argued that his true transgression was breaking with the MAGA movement he had once supported.

But alleged messages included in court records obtained by the Daily Mail seem to tell a much darker story about the marriage Yiannopoulos says entitled him to live and work in America.

In one message, Yiannopoulos appeared to offer Campbell $100,000 to complete his Green Card paperwork, including sitting through a joint interview with immigration officials.

During an argument over text dated to February 2025, Yiannopoulos allegedly wrote: ‘F**k you. Stupid worthless n****r. I hope you rot in hell with your m****y ancestors.’

‘I was only using you for a Green Card in the first place,’ the message continues.

The US Green Card lets the foreign spouse of a US citizen or permanent resident live and work in America, though there are additional rules and multiple stages to the process.

Campbell filed for divorce at Los Angeles Superior Court in January 2025 after the couple wed in Hawaii in 2017.

According to the filings, the pair lived an extraordinarily lavish lifestyle across luxury properties in New Jersey, Virginia, and finally Los Angeles, enjoying five-star vacations, designer Louis Vuitton clothing, and wagyu steak dinners at the exclusive Bel Air Hotel.

They lived in a historic $7.5 million property, known as the Garbutt House, that has become home to an eclectic cast of high-profile guests over the years, including associates of the rapper Kanye West, who now goes by Ye.

Their hilltop mansion’s driveway reportedly housed an eye-watering supercar collection, including a 2018 McLaren 570S Spider, a 2019 Aston Martin Vantage, a Porsche Taycan 4S, and a Tesla Cybertruck.

But according to court documents, by 2022 the marriage was on the rocks, with the couple arguing about money in emails to each other.

Campbell called it a relationship of ‘enslavement, not matrimony,’ alleging Yiannopoulos was violent, abusive, and prone to terrifying fits of rage in their later years together.

Yiannopoulos shoved him several times, threw a lamp and other objects, and threatened to beat, poison and kill him, the court filings allege.

Campbell claims in his court filings that Yiannopoulos insisted he alone financed their pampered lifestyle and therefore expected total obedience in return.

‘I pay. You obey,’ Yiannopoulos allegedly wrote in a 21 August 2023 text message included as a screengrab within the court filings.

‘Get used to it if you want your carefree lifestyle to continue,’ the message reportedly continued, according to the documents.

Campbell alleges that financial abuse was his estranged husband’s ‘calling card.’

At one point, Yiannopoulos allegedly ordered Campbell to leave their marital bed and sleep in the basement, where there was no air conditioning or plumbing.

Yiannopoulos then began sharing their bedroom with a ‘model,’ Campbell alleged in his filing.

The home was ‘disharmonious, borderline hostile,’ he said, but he had become financially trapped to the conservative influencer.

‘In September 2025 he locked me out of our marital home and revoked access to funds for everyday living, rendering me utterly homeless for a period of over 90 days,’ he claimed.

The divorce file also highlights a tug-of-war over the couple’s two Bengal cats., which were registered as emotional support animals.

‘I chose Scrappy. I paid for him. I pay for him now,’ Yiannopoulos asserted in one alleged message.

‘You merely collected him and asserted that they were both yours. They’re not.’

Yiannopoulos vehemently denies all of Campbell’s allegations. He says in his court filings that the text message screengrabs are forgeries, created by Campbell after he gained access to one of Yiannopoulos’ devices.  

The allegations of violent abuse are ‘fantastical and false,’ he added.

Yiannopoulos said he had lavished more than $5.5 million in cash, gifts, career assistance, housing and other support for his husband over the years, including on their luxury $37,000-a-month luxury digs.

He claims that Campbell is a manipulative spouse who has already received millions and is using domestic-violence and family-court proceedings to keep the money flowing.

According to Yiannopoulos, the couple had not been intimate for years and Campbell withdrew affection for him as far back as 2022.

He says Campbell is ‘in the grip of a mental health crisis’ for which he ‘wrongly and regrettably blames’ Yiannopoulos.

Also in his filings, he accused Campbell of using Yiannopoulos’ immigration situation as leverage because their marriage was connected to his ability to remain in the US.

In an email to the Daily Mail, Yiannopoulos called his estranged husband’s claims ‘forgeries, plus fabrications and manipulations designed to extract millions of dollars from me.’

The case is ongoing, with new documents filed as recently as September 4.

The episode marks a steep fall for a man who spent nearly a decade as one of America’s most notorious right-wing provocateurs.

He rose to prominence as a Breitbart editor and enthusiastic Donald Trump backer during the 2016 campaign, but was banned from major platforms in 2017 after video surfaced of him appearing to defend relationships between men and underage boys.

Yiannopoulos at the time apologized for his past statements, but also said he had been misrepresented.

More recently he worked with Marjorie Taylor Greene and joined Ye’s business ventures, aligning himself with figures such as Candace Owens who had also broken from mainstream conservatism.

After declaring himself ‘ex-gay’ in 2021, he announced plans to open a conversion therapy facility in Florida aimed at steering others away from homosexuality. It never appears to have opened.

His business ventures now appear to have collapsed alongside the marriage. His Tarantula Management talent agency appears shuttered, while the phones and website for his Washington government affairs firm, Earhart Turner, sit offline.

Still, he claims to have nearly $5 million stashed away in his Wells Fargo account, and told Morgan he is working full time for Ye from the UK.

A former associate who briefly worked with Yiannopoulos, speaking on condition of anonymity, described him as a ‘silly showman’ who had burned bridges and ghosted people throughout his career – including, after a handful of meetings, the associate himself.

By the time of his arrest, the source said, Yiannopoulos had become a genuinely isolated figure.

‘I think that MAGA was right to deport him, for sure,’ he told the Daily Mail. ‘He’s been kicked out with the dirty bathwater.’

Given years of outrageous posting and a rapidly shrinking circle of friends, he suggested Yiannopoulos had simply become an irritant the Trump administration no longer wanted to tolerate.

‘He should have seen that coming.’
