THE heartbroken family of a woman who has been missing for 17 years has penned a letter ahead of the holidays saying the case is out of their hands.
Jennifer Kesse, a UCF graduate, is believed to have been abducted from Orlando, Florida in 2006.
Her family believes she was taken from in or near her home on January 24, 2006.
She was reported missing by her family after she failed to show up to her job at Westgate Resorts, according to the FBI.
Kesse has never been found, and a suspect has not been named.
A person of interest was pinpointed through surveillance footage by the FBI after they were seen walking away from Kesse’s 2004 Chevy Malibu parked a mile from the young woman’s condo.
But no progress has been made with that lead.
Officials have not yet been able to crack the case, which prompted Kesse’s family to take legal action.
In 2018, the family filed a lawsuit against the Orlando Police Department in an effort to have them close the case so that the records could be released.
The case was settled in March 2019 and all records pertaining to Kesse’s case have been given to her family and the private investigator they hired.
The lawsuit settlement also allowed the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) to get involved, which revealed that DNA was collected from Kesse’s 2006 black Chevy Malibu, despite the family having been told otherwise.

In 2018, Kesse’s family set up a GoFundMe to support their own investigation into her disappearance.
As the investigation continues, Kesse’s family has penned a heartbreaking note just days before Thanksgiving.
“We wish there were positives to share concerning Jennifer’s case however, at this point in time, the investigation is out of our hands and control,” the note left on the GoFundMe by Kesse’s father, Drew, read in part.
“Jennifer, we love you and miss you insurmountably. There is not a day or minute that goes by that we are not thinking of you.
“We’re trying our best to bring you home and we won’t give up until you are with us again.”
‘WE ALL MUST LOOK WITHIN OURSELVES’
Drew Kesse’s note also touched upon the current state of the world, writing that “people, families, and communities are at a breaking point.”
“It is affecting almost every person and family in America and really the world,” Drew wrote.
“It is our belief that we all must look within ourselves and take personal responsibility for ourselves and love ourselves first, to do the right things in our own lives then take those beliefs and values and teach our children and families those values and that ALL people have value.”
Drew continued to write about the need for people to listen to one another and how there must be give and take on all sides of a discussion.
“Most times there is no good guy there is no bad guy there’s just people who simply disagree,” he wrote.
“We have to learn to accept our differences peacefully, find common ground and build a better nation from ourselves up.”
Drew concluded the update letter by wishing supporters of Kesse’s case a happy holiday.
“We hope you all have a joyful holiday season. Be safe, be well, and stay well.
“We are humbled by all of your support for Jennifer and our family over the past 17 years.”
