Landen Roupp, who was the starting pitcher and wore the cap with the scripture reference, clarified that his intent was to express his beliefs without any malice. Some of his teammates either joined him in this silent protest or chose not to wear the themed caps altogether. According to MLB’s chief communications officer, this action contravened uniform policy, prompting the league to caution the players against future infractions.
