A HOMEOWNER was furious after learning he had to pay a $13,000 bill in full for home renovations that were never done.
Arthur Mueller hired a company to come renovate his 20-year-old bathroom.
The man, who lives in Clermont, Florida, wanted to “modernize” the bathroom for his children, local ABC affiliate WFTV reported.
Mueller hired a company called Bath Planet to help with the renovations.
The father thought he followed all necessary precautions: he met with a sales representative and researched the company beforehand.
“The sales rep asked me if we want to partake in the 0% financing that they offered. I said, ‘Absolutely,’” Mueller told the outlet.
Mueller signed a contract with the company in 2023 and was given an official certificate with the company’s logo.
The words “No questions asked warranty” were printed on the certificate in bold letters.
Bath Planet of Orlando was listed on the deal with an address based in Apopka.
The contract also revealed that Bath Planet of Orlando is a subsidiary of Gutterglove South & Home Renovation LLC and Gutter Gard South LLC.
“They said it’s going to be about three months because they have the materials coming out of Chicago, which is the corporate office for Bath Planet,” Mueller recalled.
Months later, the material still hadn’t arrived, and no work was done.
A few months after signing the contract, Bath Planet of Orlando closed and Gutter Gard South LLC stopped doing business in Florida.
Mueller said he was referred to financing company Momnt to discuss how to proceed with his payments.
“We called Momnt and said, ‘Hey, I just got an email saying my payment is due. This account was closed,’” Mueller said.
“[They replied] ‘Well, sir, it was closed, but we brought it back active, you’re due for a payment.’”
Bath Concepts, the parent company of Bath Planet, replied to the incident, saying its not in “control” of each business.
“Since each dealer is independently owned and operated, BCI does not operate or control a dealer’s business and generally has no direct communication with a consumer,” the company said in a statement.

“BCI is no longer doing business with this dealer.”
Momnt, which has an “F” rating by the Better Business Bureau due to a “pattern of complaints alleging Refund/Exchange, Contract, and Billing Issues,” also issued a statement on the situation.
“Momnt services accounts that originate from FDIC-insured lending partners. We do not comment on specific merchant or consumer accounts,” the company wrote.

The U.S. Sun did not immediately receive a response from Momnt.
