Why Beijing Fears Losing Grip on the Islamic Republic Regime
Ben Hovland, with Minnesota Public Radio (shocker) seems to be part of the group. He covers immigration for the formerly publicly-funded outlet, and his profession is listed in the group chat. He has now locked his X profile. NPR’s Sergio Martinez-Beltrán is also listed as a participant, and his profession is also listed with his contact.
Here’s Why Beijing Is Concerned About Losing the Islamic Republic Regime
Despite its interests in the region, China will not defend Iran. It didn’t do so during Operation Midnight Hammer. It sat by as the elite Delta Force carried out Operation Absolute Resolve to capture Maduro. Beijing has proven that its ability to project power beyond its immediate region is limited and that it would rather avoid the costs associated with direct intervention.

Old Distillery Wall Reveals Prohibition-Era Secret
It’s always interesting to see what all might be stashed in the walls of a place. Newspapers are common, and I’ve seen a whole lot of beer cans come out of one wall, but I’ve never been lucky enough to get a vintage handgun when I’ve ripped off the plaster of an old house.
Doctors and Hospitals Refusing to Treat Law Enforcement Officers
When a Democrat walks into a hospital or doctor’s office and sees all those flags, political pins, and hears the snarky comments about politics, they may not even notice, or may vaguely feel like they are in friendly territory.
Trump’s Berlin Wall Moment?
And that’s one reason why I feel more confident than ever that Trump and Marco Rubio have this largely under control at the moment, and we may very well see a free and thriving Venezuela again in the near future.

WHAT’S ON TAP?
Today on Capitol Hill…
There were initially a couple of hearings set for Tuesday, but those have been postponed. The Senate is in town, however, working on ways to avoid a shutdown. Will they figure it out?
White House What’s Up
On Tuesday, President Trump will head to Clive, Iowa, to deliver remarks on energy and the economy in the afternoon. Reportedly, he had a Monday evening meeting with DHS Secretary Kristi Noem. We’ll see what, if any, news emerges from that.

Full Court Press…
The courts were a bit quieter on Monday, but we had an interesting filing in the case involving the investigation into and preservation of evidence in the Alex Pretti shooting (where we’re awaiting the judge’s ruling on an extended temporary restraining order), and the 8th Circuit weighed in with a critical ruling on immigration enforcement in Minnesota:
- ↔️ Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension v. Noem (access to evidence re: 1/24/26 shooting) — DOJ has filed a brief in response to plaintiffs’ motion for TRO. Hearing set for Monday afternoon at 2:00 PM Central.
- ✅ Tincher v. Noem (immigration enforcement/Operation Metro Surge) — 8th Circuit GRANTS admin’s motion for stay pending appeal.
