The debate is set to kick off at 4.30pm in the Commons.

The mega online petition was started on November 20 by Michael Westwood, who owns three pubs in the Black Country.

It attracted huge support after being shared on X by the platform’s owner Elon Musk.

The billionaire tech tycoon claimed that “the people of Britain have had enough of a tyrannical police state” as he encouraged an onslaught of signatures.

At the time Sir Keir hit back that there was a  “massive petition on 4 July in this country” – the 2024 general election.

Signatories of the petition allege that the PM lied in the build up to the election on issues including taxes.

Despite vowing not hike national insurance, employers were subjected to a whopping rise in the levy at the Budget last November.

Asked why he set up the petition, Mr Westwood told the BBC: “The people that are currently in charge of the country, in my opinion, lied to get there.

“To have my opinion and my thoughts put out there and to find out actually, quite a lot of people agree, I think it’s fantastic. It just shows that you’re not on your own.”

While the petition has racked up three million signatures there is no way to check that they are all legitimate.

Critics have pointed out that bots are capable of adding fake names and there is no vetting process to ensure everyone who signs even lives in the UK.
