“My God, why?” – Lawmaker devastated as his newborn daughter passes on three days after wife’s burial

Kenyan lawmaker Duncan Wangama has been plunged into mourning following the heartbreaking loss of both his wife and newborn daughter.

The Member of County Assembly for Wusi Kishamba Ward in Taita Taveta County laid his wife, Stella Wangama, to rest on Thursday, July 17, 2025, in a deeply emotional ceremony. Tragically, just three days later, their newborn daughter, Judy, also passed away.

Reports from local media reveal that Stella died in the early hours of July 8, barely a day after delivering their baby via caesarean section.

Though the delivery was initially successful, she developed complications that led to her untimely death.

Their daughter, Judy, passed away on Sunday, July 20, just two weeks after her mother—and was buried the following day.

The devastating double tragedy has left the lawmaker overwhelmed with grief. Heart-wrenching photos shared online show him weeping at the funeral as loved ones tried to console him.
