AN 80-year-old woman has settled a lengthy legal dispute over her collection of decorative dinosaur sculptures.
Florence Fang — the owner of a property known as the Flintstone House — will receive $125,000 from the town of Hillsborough in the Bay Area of California.

Back in 2019, Hillsborough, an affluent suburb of San Francisco, alleged that Fang violated local codes when she installed dinosaur sculptures throughout her property, prompting officials to label it a public nuisance.
Fang told The Guardian she drew her design inspiration for the property from the classic cartoon The Flinstones.
“The first episode is Fred with Dino,” she said in the 2019 interview and tour. “And I said, ‘Dino should be here! Fred should be here!’
The town sued Fang for not complying with several stop-work orders, and an order to remove the large-size sculptures.
The outdoor designs and landscaping include 15-foot-tall metal dinosaurs, a moon rover, a spaceship, an astronaut, and the show’s beloved character the Great Gazoo.
Fred Flintstone’s famous catchphrase “Yabba dabba doo” is also spelled out on the property as well as lawn ornaments of him, Wilma, Dino, and Barney and Betty Rubble.

The California resident said she wanted to decorate her home “with the past and the future combined in harmony.”
She made her fortune in publishing and fought back against the town with a countersuit.
Her attorney alleged that the town of Hillsborough had violated her constitutional right to fully enjoy her property, and that the town had discriminated against her because of her Chinese heritage.
Town supervisors vehemently denied the latter claim.
Mark Hudak, an attorney for Hillsborough, has previously said that the town prides itself on its rural, woodsy feel.
He told the Guardian that the rules were in place “so neighbors don’t have to look at your version of what you would like to have, and you don’t have to look at theirs.”
“I’m just a tired old lady. I just wanted my peaceful life. I’m a very, very regular, retired old lady,” said Fang of the dispute. “But of course, a little different. I have all kinds of dreams.”
The town will pay her $125,000, while she has agreed to comply with permit applications moving forward.
