THE dead body of a teenager who was reported missing on Friday has been discovered hundreds of miles away from his home.
Hunter Carroll, 17, was found dead on Sunday in Saltillo, Mississippi, about 120 miles southeast of Memphis, Tennessee.
That’s roughly 100 miles southwest of where the teen lived in Wayne County, Tennessee, WSMV reported.
It’s not clear how he ended up in Mississippi.
An investigation into Carroll’s death is currently underway.
The Wayne County Sheriff’s Department and the Santillo Police Department both posted about Carroll on Facebook after he went missing.
But those messages appear to have been deleted as of Monday night.
“Sheriff Shane Fisher extends his condolences to the Carroll family as they endure this tragedy,” said a post from officials in Wayne County.

At one point, the department also published a post describing Carroll and the vehicle he may have been driving.
The 17-year-old was 5’4 and 130lbs with black hair and brown eyes.
He may have been traveling in a red 1992 Chevy pickup truck.
Caroll’s family started a GoFundMe to pay for funeral expenses after the teen’s body was found.
They were notified by police in the early morning hours on Sunday.
“Hunter has lots family and friends that loves him dearly. Hunter was such a loving, caring, and precious boy,” his aunt Stacey Battles wrote.
“He had a smile and laugh that would light up a room. He always made everyone laugh and he made sure they knew they were loved.
“He loved with all his heart. He loved hanging out with friends, riding around in his truck, and working so he could talk to everyone.”
The campaign raised $4,575 of its $10,000 in its first six hours.
The Wayne County Sheriff’s Department, Santillo Police Department, and the organizer of the GoFundMe campaign did not immediately respond to The U.S. Sun’s requests for comment.
