November marks National Adoption Month, with Friday—and in some regions, Saturday—designated as National Adoption Day. During a November 2023 Feel-Good Friday segment, I explored the origins of this observance. The primary goal is to highlight the plight of children and older youth in foster care, advocating for their adoption into permanent, loving homes. This month also showcases various organizations that play a crucial role in connecting children with families, providing essential support to adoptive households, and aiding those who have aged out of the foster system in achieving a better quality of life.
This edition of Feel-Good Friday shines a spotlight on the Selfless Love Foundation, as well as the many foster children and youths who found their forever families in adoption ceremonies nationwide.
Feel-Good Friday: Peter Mutabazi’s Life Transformed, Now He’s Transforming Lives for Many Kids
Established in 2015, the Selfless Love Foundation dedicates its efforts to addressing the needs of foster youth. The organization aims to reform the child welfare system, ensuring that those transitioning out of foster care have access to safe and stable housing. This foundation helps set the stage for these young individuals to embark on a successful future. Additionally, Selfless Love Foundation strives to build meaningful connections between foster children and adoptive families.
On Friday, Fox News’ America’s Newsroom featured a segment highlighting the Selfless Love Foundation, with founder and CEO Ashley Brown. Co-host Dana Perino presented some concerning statistics revealing a decline in foster care adoptions. Brown then introduced a family whose lives were transformed by her organization’s mission and efforts.
Founded in 2015, the Selfless Love Foundation focuses its resources on the plight of foster youth. The organization seeks to improve the child welfare system and ensures youth who are aging out of the system can move into safe housing. This gives them a firmer foundation, so they can launch into their future. Selfless Love Foundation also works to create connections between foster youth and adoptive families.

On Friday, Fox News’ America’s Newsroom featured a segment on the Selfless Love Foundation with its founder and CEO Ashley Brown, with co-host Dana Perino sharing some sober statistics, which show that that fewer children are being adopted from foster care environments. Brown then introduced a family whose lives were changed thanks to Brown’s vision and work.

But the joy of the National Adoption Day is, well, the adoptions. Family courts take the entire day to do nothing but adoptions. This family court in Massachusetts did over 100 adoptions on Friday.

It is a joy to behold young people who come out of abuse, neglect, and abandonment experience being grafted into a forever family. This National Adoption Day celebration in Wayne County, MI, will bring tears to your eyes.

And this adoption in St. Albans, VT, was made extra special when the adoptive mom tattooed her new daughter’s name on her arm, alongside those of her other children.
J-dyn, pronounced “Jayden,” first came into Bobbiejo’s life as a niece who spent summers with the family. When J-dyn later needed a foster home, Bobbiejo relished the thought of becoming her new mom and applied for a kinship foster placement.
J-dyn always wanted to be adopted, and after a two-year process, the final adoption hearing was scheduled in St. Albans, Vermont.
Bobbiejo had already viewed J-dyn as her own and decided to mark the occasion by adding J-dyn’s name to the family tree tattoo on her arm alongside the names of her other children.
It’s as touching as you imagine.
