THE mystery around a bright purple light that filled the sky has been solved after locals feared an alien invasion.

While some believed that the lights could’ve been a UFO or another other-worldly occurrence, police quickly found the source.

Police revealed that the unique night sky was the result of a commercial greenhouse that was used to grow marijuana.

Locals were very confused and posted to X, formerly known as Twitter, with their speculations.

Many of the responses included fears of a possible alien invasion.

One user wrote: “It’s 2 am… who can explain this lovely sky to me?

“Maybe a house fire? Or fireworks?

“It could be the volcanic ash in the air that closed Vancouver Airport a few days ago – or something reflecting up into the cloud?”

“The alien invasion is here,” another person wrote, as reported by Jam Press.

“I was busy packing my bags for the mother ship’s imminent arrival to fetch me,” a third person said.

Residents in Delta City, located just south of Vancouver in Canada, also offered their suggestions as to what could have been going on.

“This is solar flare activity. There was a major eruption a few days ago,” offered one user.

Eventually, the Delta Police Department took to the comment section and cleared up any confusion.

“When I tell you, you’ll be disappointed…” the police department wrote.

“Delta has some commercial greenhouse space producing marijuana.

“The purple light is used in the greenhouses to help the growing cycle.

“They get used rarely, but when they do, you get purple light pollution.”

They included at the end of their statement that the purple lights were “nothing exotic!” which cleared up any other-worldly theories.

In other UFO news, The U.S. Sun has a list of America’s most believable UFO sightings from a “flying house with windows” to a 27-minute fighter pilot confrontation.

And a family was stunned when they looked up and saw a UFO hovering in the sky above them in Indiana.
