NEW York City Councilwoman Inna Vernikov has been arrested after bringing a firearm to a pro-Palestine rally on Thursday.
Vernikov has turned herself into the NYPD’s 70th Precinct in Brooklyn.
Several photos posted to X, formerly known as Twitter, show the councilwoman with a gun on full display on her hip at the rally outside of Brooklyn College on Thursday afternoon.
The New York Governor Kathy Hochul has put out a statement about Vernikov’s arrest on X.
“New York’s gun safety laws apply to everyone,” Hochul wrote.

New York State Senator Julia Salazar has also commented on the incident on X, writing: “There is no excuse, none whatsoever, for an elected official to bring a firearm to a college campus in New York.
“To go even further by allegedly brandishing the gun to intimidate Palestinian students is beyond anything I’ve seen before. And I’ve seen some s***.”
Vernikov is Jewish.
The republican has a concealed carry license, according to Politico.
