Hot Takes: OR Democrats Don't Care That Border Patrol Took Out Tren de Aragua, They Want to Blame ICE

According to RedState, an incident occurred around 2 p.m. Pacific Time on Thursday in Portland, Oregon, where two individuals were shot by agents from Customs and Border Protection (CBP). This event followed closely on the heels of another shooting in Minneapolis on Wednesday, involving the death of anti-ICE activist Renee Good by an ICE agent. The Portland shooting has understandably heightened concerns, even as details about what transpired remain scant.

In response, Portland Police Bureau Chief Bob Day made a statement emphasizing that the Portland Police Bureau (PPB) had no involvement whatsoever with immigration matters, clearly distancing his department from the incident.

WATCH:

Before it was clear which federal agency was involved or who the victims were, local Portland and Oregon officials were quick to criticize ICE and the Trump administration. This aligns with a strategy famously advocated by former Clinton Chief of Staff and Chicago Mayor Rahm Emmanuel, who advised to “never let a crisis go to waste.”

In short, the situation in Portland is unfolding in familiar political territory.

Adhering to the mantra taught by former Clinton Chief of Staff and former Democrat Mayor of Chicago Rahm Emmanuel to “never let a crisis go to waste,” before the specific federal agency was even identified or information issued on who the shooting victims were, Portland and Oregon elected officials sounded off on the usual suspects: ICE and Trump.

So, they’re having a normal one, as per usual.

Breaking: Tensions Reach Boiling Point in Minneapolis As Woman Attacks ICE With Vehicle, Is Neutralized

Between the hours of 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. Pacific Time, Portland Mayor Keith Wilson issued this statement:

Just one day after the horrific violence in Minnesota at the hands of federal agents, our community here in Portland is now grappling with another deeply troubling incident. Earlier this afternoon, two people were shot and injured by federal agents in the Hazelwood neighborhood.

Wilson didn’t bother with the pretzel performance given by Chief Day. Without the profanity (refreshing), Wilson lifted his statement straight from Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey, with the usual imagery of militarized federal agents, railing against the evil Trump administration, and demanding that “ICE” cease operations in the city.

Wilson then threatened the lawfare route. Good Luck with that.

We cannot sit by while constitutional protections erode and bloodshed mounts. Portland is not a “training ground” for militarized agents, and the “full force” threatened by the administration has deadly consequences. As Mayor, I call on ICE to end all operations in Portland until a full investigation can be completed.

Federal militarization undermines effective, community‑based public safety, and it runs counter to the values that define our region. I will use every legal and legislative tool available to protect our residents’ civil and human rights.

Oregon Rep. Janelle Bynum (D-05) mimics her Democrat House colleague Jasmine Crockett (TX-30) by dropping F-bombs before and throughout her statement.

Stay classy, Janelle.

Not to be outdone, Oregon Democrat State Senate Leader and Somali immigrant Kayse Jama, who appears to barely be able to grasp English, wants ICE to know they are not welcome and to “Get the hell out of our community.”

Maxine Dexter (OR-03), another Democrat Rep., also assumed ICE and invoked Trump and authoritarianism as she demanded ICE get out of Portland.

Her statement, in part:

Just one day after the horrific murder in Minneapolis, I received reports that two people in my district were shot by federal immigration officials this afternoon in East Portland. Both individuals are alive, but we do not know the extent of their injuries.

ICE has done nothing but inject terror, chaos, and cruelty in our communities. Trump’s immigration machine is using violence to control our communities — straight out of the authoritarian playbook.

Here’s how we know this is all theater: They ignored — or didn’t bother to listen — to Chief Day’s weak sauce statement that he had no idea which federal agency was involved. Instead, the knee-jerk response was focus on ICE, and that it’s all Trump’s fault. Sen. Jeff Merkley (D-OR) joined that chorus, but cautioned people to protest peacefully because it was Trump who would do anything to incite a riot.

Uh huh.

Fox News’ White House correspondent Bill Melugin said it well in his quote of Rep. Maxine Dexter’s X statement:

This is what happens when politicians put out statements without waiting for any facts.

“ICE must end all operations in Portland…” & bashes ICE etc.

But this shooting wasn’t even ICE. It was Border Patrol. Completely different agencies. & DHS says they were targeting TdA.

A few hours after the incident was reported, the Department of Homeland Security issued this post:

At 2:19 PST, US Border Patrol agents were conducting a targeted vehicle stop in Portland, Oregon. The passenger of the vehicle and target is a Venezuelan illegal alien affiliated with the transnational Tren de Aragua prostitution ring and involved in a recent shooting in Portland. The vehicle driver is believed to be a member of the vicious Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua. When agents identified themselves to the vehicle occupants, the driver weaponized his vehicle and attempted to run over the law enforcement agents.

Fearing for his life and safety, an agent fired a defensive shot. The driver drove off with the passenger, fleeing the scene.

This situation is evolving and more information is forthcoming.

No matter what the facts are or what DHS has to say on the matter, the Democrat and leftists’ agenda is already at play: Ignore the facts, manipulate or engineer acts of violence against federal law enforcement, throw stones, then hide within their glass house and watch the rabble melt down, burn it down, and blame Trump.

Oregon Gov. Tina Kotek is now demanding a “full investigation.” As a state that may well have as much rampant Somali fraud as Minnesota, Kotek should be careful what she asks for.

Editor’s Note: The mainstream media continues to deflect, gaslight, spin, and lie about President Trump, his administration, and conservatives.
