On Monday’s episode of ABC’s “The View,” co-host Whoopi Goldberg criticized President Donald Trump for his distasteful remarks concerning the death of filmmaker Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele Reiner.
Co-host Sunny Hostin expressed her reluctance to politicize the situation but noted, “Unfortunately, President Trump sent a text yesterday that was quite —”
Goldberg interjected, suggesting, “Let’s not read it. Just acknowledge that it exists.”
Hostin elaborated, “He insinuated that the death was due to ‘Trump derangement syndrome.’ Such comments are inappropriate, especially when we should be focusing on the tragic gun violence we’re witnessing.”
Goldberg continued, “If we could truly comprehend the horror of these events, perhaps we could find empathy for the countless individuals affected. Be it women, men, people of color, or Jews, many have faced significant challenges. I find it hard to understand the man in the White House. He often speaks of caring, like with Charlie Kirk, yet he releases statements like this.”
She added, “Have you no shame? No shame at all? This is — can you get any lower? I don’t think so. And what do you have to say about what’s happened around the world? Where is our voice as Americans? Somebody has got to speak up for us when our hearts are breaking through all of this. Through Rob, what’s happened at Bondi Beach, what happened at Brown. And you don’t find the time to say, as Americans, we hate what’s happening. You ain’t my president, man.”
