Paris Hilton has faced fierce online criticism after revealing that she dressed as an extravagant princess for Halloween while her young children took on supporting characters.
The 45-year-old actress shared a series of photographs on X on Monday, giving fans a preview of the family’s coordinated costumes ahead of the holiday.
Hilton transformed into Princess Belle from Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, wearing a striking yellow gown decorated with red roses and glitter.
The elaborate dress featured a fitted bodice and a huge tiered skirt. She completed the costume with a matching neckpiece, gloves and a brown wig.
Her husband, Carter Reum, portrayed the Beast in blue and yellow formalwear, finishing his look with a monstrous mask.
However, it was the costumes chosen for Hilton’s two children that sparked the strongest reaction online.
Her three-year-old son, Phoenix, dressed as Lumiere, the candelabra, while her two-year-old daughter, London, appeared as Chip, the teacup.
Several social media users objected to Hilton taking the role of the story’s central character, accusing her of overshadowing her children and “stealing the spotlight” from them.

“Stealing spotlight from kids is next level narcissistic,” one X user wrote.
Another asked: “When do your kids get to be the main character?”
“This is sad! You are not the main character anymore. Let your kids have a childhood,” a third person commented.
“Cute but the kids should have been the stars here,” another post read.
A fifth user wrote: “Weird to make yourself the princess and the kid a prop, not gonna lie.”
“Totally gross to use your kids as accessories on Halloween. Diabolical,” a different critic added.

Not everyone agreed with the backlash, with other users describing the family’s costumes as “iconic” and “adorable.”
“This is so cute! I have always wanted to wear Belle’s dress! You’re living it and it looks fabulous on you,” one admirer wrote.

‘Well YAS. SHE IS MAIN CHARACTER,’ someone else replied.
‘This just in: Women who have children are no longer allowed to be princesses. Their life is over. It’s only mother now,’ a different user sarcastically fired back at a hater.
Another person pointed out that her kids may be ‘too little’ to ‘remember their Halloween costumes’ so she should ‘enjoy her MILF era to the fullest while she can.’
It comes after it was revealed that there may be tension brewing between Hilton and her pal Kim Kardashian.
Biographer Jonathan Van Meter, whose new book Citizen Kim: The Woman Who Created the Future hit stands this week, revealed in the tome that he planned to discuss Kardashian with Hilton, who has known the mogul since childhood and hired her as an assistant in the early aughts.
Some social media users were outraged over her decision to dress as the ‘main character’ instead of her kids, and accused her of ‘stealing the spotlight’ away from the youngsters. She’s seen earlier this month
However, the heiress reportedly canceled their interview multiple times, allegedly leaving Kardashian very upset.
‘Kim was so mad when I told her. It seemed to stir up some ancient irritation between them. The creation turning on the creator,’ Van Meter told The Hollywood Reporter last week.
Van Meter said Hilton emerged as a potential reference ‘late in the process’ of writing the biography.
‘Late in the process, I told Kim I should talk to her,’ he shared. ‘Kim checked and said Paris agreed, but I had to go through her publicist. That was unusual: With everybody else, Kim just sent a text.
‘I sent questions, connected with Paris’ assistant, and then the interview was canceled 17 times over about four months. Eventually I thought the cancellations were more interesting than whatever she’d tell me.’
