Together they have amassed a huge following across several social media platforms including with 19.7 million subscribers on their YouTube channel, @pinkshirtcouple; 3.9 million followers on their TikTok account, @pinkshirtcouple; 270,000 followers on their Instagram page, @pinkshirtcouple; and 189,000 followers on their joint Facebook account, @pinkshirtcouple.

Now, a little over two years after they started their iconic pink brand, the couple has announced they are no longer dating.

The couple shared the news in a video uploaded to their YouTube channel titled, We Broke Up.

“We did break up, as a couple. We’re still really close as friends and care very deeply about each other,” Christianson said.

“But I think as individuals, when — like I said, the most important thing is working on yourself, and when the other significant other doesn’t provide that or help better themselves or the other person, I think they might need time for themselves or apart. And I think that’s what is best for us,” he continued.

“Doesn’t mean change is bad. Change is good. You have to learn to grow.”

Eckstein insisted that she still loves and cares for her now-ex-boyfriend and wants the best for both of them moving forward.

She also revealed to viewers that she had moved out of their shared apartment.

Eckstein went on to reflect about their relationship, saying they have spent a “big chunk” of their lives together and on YouTube.

However, as time went on, the relationship changed.

“For our relationship, we felt more like friends than a couple. You know, we both can have so much fun with each other and are super silly and everything,” Eckstein told viewers.

“Some things, we didn’t really understand each other, and we aren’t able to give each other everything that we need in a partner, and we realize that.”

They went on to explain that because their YouTube and influencer career revolved around their relationship, it didn’t “feel right to pretend to still be in a relationship and be a couple when, you know, we don’t really feel like it.”

“We could’ve just kept making content together and kept pretending, and kept doing that, but that’s lying to you guys and that’s not right, because we don’t want to lie to you guys,” Eckstein said.

“I think on a personal level, that’s also very hard to do, and act that we’re in a relationship but we’re friends, so,” Christianson added.

The exes did affirm to their fans that they both will still be making content in the future.

Christianson has made his own YouTube channel, called @pinkshirtsingle

As of February 4, no content had been uploaded to the channel but it had gained over 32,400 subscribers.

Christianson and Eckstein first met in February 2021 as student athletes on the swim team at their college, according to a YouTube Blog published in May 2023.

Over the course of several months, the two started to make TikToks and live videos together, gaining their first large following due to Robik’s Cube wars.

By that summer, the then-couple said they were at a point they could “creatively and financially pursue their dream full-time.”

Ultimately, they moved to Arizona in March 2022, where they continued to create content across multiple platforms.

They previously said their content was “positive, fun, [and] goofy…for all ages and families from all over the globe.”

In December 2023, Eckstein told NBC affiliate KPNX-TV that the couple’s goal was to promote being their most authentic self in their videos.

“I’ve always been an outcast and I’m awkward and I’m weird,” Eckstein told the outlet.

“My goal is to inspire the young to be themselves. Be awkward, be silly; these days people call you cringey, be cringey! I know I’m cringey.”

Thousands of fans rushed to the former-couple’s YouTube page to share sadness over the closed chapter.

“I was devastated to hear about the break-up, but I hope that you both find happiness and fulfillment in your lives moving forward. Sending love and support your way,” one fan wrote.

“NO WAY THEY BROKE UP,” another commented on the break up video.

“But i will still support you guys no matter what hope you guys continue to be happy.”

“Nooooooooooo!!!! I am devastated! You two looked so cute together. When I first clicked on the video I thought it was fake but then I watched it and it’s totally not fake,” a third fan said.

A fourth chimed in saying, “We going to miss this iconic couple.”

Meanwhile a fifth wrote, “The fact they are still matching,” referring to the matching pink shirts the now-exes still wore.
