The plane was traveling along the Platte River before it plunged into the water south of Fremont at around 8:15 pm on Friday night.

Airboats and drones were rushed to the river to help with the search and arrived just before midnight.

Footage show dozens of workers helping from the Nebraska State Patrol, the Saunders County Sheriff’s Office, the Waterloo Fire Department and the Fremont Fire Department.

The non-commercial aircraft was seen on top of the river as rescuers rushed to search the debris.

Tragically, the service crews could not save any one on board.

Sgt. Brie Frank of the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office later confirmed three bodies were recovered along with the small plane.

Investigations are ongoing into the deadly smash with officials yet to confirm the identities of those killed.

The cause of the crash is also yet to be revealed.

The sheriff’s office said the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board will now oversee the investigation.

The deadly crash is the latest in a spate of horror plane accidents.

Days earlier, an eight-year-old girl was among six people who died in a helicopter crash over the Hudson River.

Siemens executive Agustin Escobar, his wife, their three children, and a pilot all perished in the disaster.

Chilling footage of a separate crash site showed the remains of a private plane which killed a family of top doctors.

The parents, two children, and the children’s partners all died when their plane plunged on their way to the Catskills for a birthday and Passover celebration last Saturday.

Investigators shared a harrowing video of the aircraft wreckage ripped apart in a muddy field in Copake, New York, just 10 miles from the airport it was headed toward.
