Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said Monday that his country “neutralized a drone operating over government buildings,” less than a week after he said that his country downed multiple Russian drones that breached Poland’s airspace.

“Just now, the State Protection Service neutralized a drone operating over government buildings (Parkowa) and the Belweder. Two Belarusian citizens were detained. The police are investigating the circumstances of the incident,” Tusk said in a post on the social platform X translated from Polish, per the artificial intelligence tool Grok.

Last Wednesday, Poland invoked the North Atlantic Treaty’s Article 4 following fighter jets shooting down multiple Russian drones that illegally came into Polish airspace.

Russia said it didn’t purposefully send drones into the airspace, but the action has resulted in an outcry from NATO allies.

“What is clear is that the violation last night is not an isolated incident,” NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte said Wednesday. “Whether it was intentionally or not, it is absolutely reckless. It is absolutely dangerous.”

Recent Eastern European tensions have also come amid the Trump administration’s efforts to end the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine. President Trump recently met with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska and soon after with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at the White House.

On Sunday, Rep. Rick Crawford (R-Ark.) said that Putin “is sticking his thumb in the eye of NATO.”

“I don’t know if he is trying to invoke an Article 5 response, but he is … really endangering his position,” the Arkansas Republican added. “And then further, this should be a wake-up call to the European Union and other nations that, look, we need to tighten up these sanctions. You’ve got to quit buying Russian oil. You’ve got to bring this guy to his knees.”
