On Monday, it was announced by a spokesperson that former President Biden has successfully completed a round of radiation therapy aimed at treating his aggressive form of prostate cancer.

The treatment spanned several weeks, and according to the spokesperson, Biden is reportedly “doing well” following the procedure, as shared with NewsNation, a sister network of The Hill.

Details regarding the necessity for further radiation sessions remain undisclosed, as the spokesperson refrained from commenting on potential future treatments.

Earlier this month, a statement from the former president’s representative outlined that Biden was undergoing both radiation therapy and hormone treatment as part of his prostate cancer management plan.

NBC News had previously reported, based on insights from a knowledgeable source, that the treatment was anticipated to continue for a five-week period.

Biden, 82, was diagnosed with cancer in May. A spokesperson at the time said the disease was “characterized by a Gleason score of 9 (Grade Group 5) with metastasis to the bone” and appeared “hormone-sensitive,” allowing for management. 

After his initial diagnosis this spring, Biden took to social media to express gratitude for the outpouring of support following his announcement. 

“Cancer touches us all. Like so many of you, Jill and I have learned that we are strongest in the broken places,” Biden wrote on the social platform X, sharing a photo of himself, former first lady Jill Biden and their cat, Willow.
