Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker (D) on Sunday said that hundreds of Texas National Guard members were headed to his state and Oregon and labeled it “Trump’s Invasion.”

“This evening, President Trump is ordering 400 members of the Texas National Guard for deployments to Illinois, Oregon, and other locations within the United States. No officials from the federal government called me directly to discuss or coordinate,” Pritzker said in a thread on the social platform X Sunday night.

“We must now start calling this what it is: Trump’s Invasion. It started with federal agents, it will soon include deploying federalized members of the Illinois National Guard against our wishes, and it will now involve sending in another state’s military troops,” he added.

In a post responding to Pritzker, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) said that he’d “fully authorized the President to call up 400 members of the Texas National Guard to ensure safety for federal officials.”

“You can either fully enforce protection for federal employees or get out of the way and let Texas Guard do it,” he added. “No Guard can match the training, skill, and expertise of the Texas National Guard.”

In recent months, Trump has sent the National Guard to multiple cities, including Los Angeles, Washington, D.C., and Memphis, Tenn., angering local residents and Democrats. 

Earlier Sunday, Oregon Attorney General Dan Rayfield said he was “preparing to take legal action” against Trump for sending California National Guard troops to the Beaver State after a federal judge had stopped the mobilization of troops in Portland, Ore.

“We are quickly assessing our options and preparing to take legal action. We’ll continue to share updates as we have them,” Rayfield said Sunday in a post on the social platform X.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) said Sunday that the president was “deploying 300 California National Guard personnel into Oregon,” adding that the troops “are on their way there now.”

“We are taking this fight back to court. The public cannot stay silent in the face of such reckless and authoritarian conduct by the President of the United States,” Newsom added in an X post.
