The recall impacts Publix, a supermarket chain which has more than 1,000 stores across the US and a presence in eight states.

Chiefs are recalling a type of Greenwise pear, kiwi, spinach and pea flavored baby food.

The item was sold across all states where Publix has a presence.

“As part of our commitment to food safety, potentially impacted products have been removed from all store shelves,” Maria Brous, Publix Director of Communications, said.

The product is being recalled over lead contamination fears but there have been no reports of any illnesses.

Shoppers are urged to check products that have a best-by date of November 1, 2025.

Publix shoppers that have bought the baby food can get a refund if they return it to the store.

Officials at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have warned about the risks of children being exposed to lead.

Lead exposure can cause hearing and speech problems, as well as potential brain and nerve damage.

It can also impact a child’s growth and development.

CDC officials warn that this can make it more difficult for children to pay attention in class, and they could underperform.

They have also warned that symptoms may not be obvious.

Parents who fear their child has been exposed to lead should book a blood test with their local doctor.

LEAD POISONING RISKS

Health chiefs have warned that younger children are more likely to exposed to lead than their older counterparts.

This is because they tend to put their hands or other objects into their mouths.

The CDC has also shared steps parents can take to reduce their child’s exposure to lead.

Parents are urged to give their kids healthy foods and ensure paint cracks are covered up.

Leaving paint cracks at home open can cause lead dust to form.

This makes it more likely that children will swallow tiny dust particles.

Meanwhile, The U.S. Sun previously reported how a salsa sold at Costco warehouses was being recalled over fears it may have been contaminated with pieces of wood.

Shoppers have been urged to check their best before dates before consuming it.

Several Fresh & Ready foods have been recalled in light of a listeria outbreak, as per The US Food & Drug Administration.

Some of the goods recalled included ready-to-eat sandwiches and other snacks.

Symptoms of a listeria infection include vomiting, diarrhea and nausea.
