DETROIT rapper 42 Dugg has been released from prison.
The American rapper rose to fame in the entertainment industry after signing with Lil Baby and Yo Gotti’s labels.
Dugg, whose real name is Dion Marquise Hayes, was released on Monday, according to the United States Penitentiary in Atlanta, Georgia.
The artist was immediately embraced by loved ones when he was released.
His CMG Records boss, Yo Gotti, was one of the people waiting for him.
CMG Records shared a video of Dugg’s release on Instagram Wednesday evening.
They captioned the post: “Welcome home @42_dugggg!!”
Video footage obtained from TMZ shows the rapper smiling, as he sprinted towards a silver Rolls Royce.
Dressed in a two-piece grey sweatsuit, white socks, and black sandals, Dugg looked ecstatic when a prison guard opened the metal gate to release him.
The rapper went straight for some good grub and to the studio after being released, per the same outlet.
Prior to being released, Grubb was vocal about the rough conditions he allegedly faced inside the Georgia prison.
In a now-deleted post on Instagram, the rapper said that he was the target of harassment from prison guards and staff, per BET.
“Man im in this b***h heating my food up with the water from the nasty a** shower, they dont even give us hot water to heat our food up aint no microwave, I can’t get no visits from my family nothing,” he allegedly wrote at the time.

In May 2022, Dugg was arrested for failing to turn himself in to a federal prison camp in West Virginia, where he was set to serve a 6-month sentence for illegal firearm possession.
Dugg was arrested in March 2020 on felony firearm possession charges and was sentenced to three years of probation.
In February 2022, his probation was reportedly revoked after he tested positive for unspecified drugs.
He was then sentenced to six months behind bars and two years of probation.
According to Rolling Stone, Duggs was previously convicted of carjacking and firearms possessions in native Michigan in 2011.
He pleaded guilty to those charges in 2020 and was sentenced to three years probation.
His notoriety in the music industry has been climbing in recent years.
Dugg signed with Lil Baby and Yo Gotti’s labels and has released three albums, including Young and Turnt, Free Dem Boyz, and Last Ones Left.
He’s also collaborated with several artists including Future, Lil Baby, and Lil Kee.
Dugg’s release comes just in time for a CMG tour featuring multiple artists, including Moneybagg Yo, GloRilla, and EST Gee.
After being released from prison, the rapper made his first Instagram post on Wednesday, writing: “Da Only Young N Turnt!! !! !! !!”
He included eight photos of himself lying across a silver Rolls Royce with stacks of $100 and $50 bills.
The post received over 160,000 likes within 50 minutes of being posted.
