A prominent Fox News correspondent recently unveiled a stark image illustrating his recovery journey after suffering severe injuries while reporting from the field.
Benjamin Hall, a British-American journalist, found himself in the midst of danger during the 2022 conflict in Ukraine. While covering the war, Hall was caught in a devastating blast that resulted in life-changing consequences.
Tragically, the explosion not only took the lives of his cameraman and a local journalist but also left Hall, at 43, with the loss of an eye. His injuries were extensive, including the loss of half of his right leg and his left foot, alongside significant hearing damage.
A piece of shrapnel pierced Hall’s eye, causing irreversible damage that now necessitates him to use a prosthetic eye. Despite these challenges, Hall’s image serves as a testament to his resilience and the ongoing process of healing.

On Wednesday, he shared a striking photo showing a mold being taken of his eye.Â
‘Had a rebuild recently!’ He wrote on X. ‘Lots of people asking about this… it was a mould [sic] being taken so we can rebuild the artificial lenses.’
The image showed his face with a bright blue mold oozed from his eye socket.Â

The reporter lost his eye and shared he is being fitted for a prosthetic to help with his vision
Hall almost lost his life when his team came under a barrage of Russian shells outside Kyiv on March 14, 2022.
Veteran Fox cameraman Pierre Zakrzewski, a 55-year-old Irishman, and local Ukrainian journalist Oleksandra Kuvshynova, 24, were killed in the onslaught.
The lens Hall is being fitted for is a clear implant that doctors insert into the eye to help correct vision.Â
Also known as intraocular lenses, IOL implants are used for various of eye problems, including nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism.
Those with cataracts also benefit from IOL implants to help restore their vision, and it’s a recommended alternative for those who can’t get laser eye surgery, or LASIK.
Hall was flooded with support shortly after sharing the image as many commended his courage and ongoing recovery.Â
‘Your courage…just amazing,’ one user wrote. ‘And sharing this with us takes even more guts! You’re a good man, Ben!’
‘Benjamin, you are a brave and courageous man,’ another wrote.

Hall has previously opened up about his long road to recovery, urging others in similar situations to ‘never give up’ and said adversity could be overcome ‘no matter how painful something is’.
During his darkest moments Hall said that the thought of his three daughters who he shares with wife Alicia Meller kept him going.
‘When you have to know there’s good on the other side, that if you work hard, if you dedicate yourself to getting somewhere and you don’t stop trying to achieve that, you will get that and no matter how painful something is, no matter how hard it is,’ he said.
‘If you really want to and you have the support to do it, you can get there, never give up. Never assume it’s all over. It’s inside you and it’s always good on the other side.’Â
