Ron DeSantis will remain governor until 2027

In May 2023, the Florida governor announced he would be going up against Donald Trump in the 2024 presidential election.

However, he dropped out of the race this afternoon.

This means Ron DeSantis will remain the governor of Florida until January 2027.

More about Nikki Haley

Nikki Haley was born Nimrata Nikki Randhawa on January 20, 1972, in Bamber, South Carolina.

She is the daughter of Indian immigrants and has two brothers and one sister.

She was raised in a Sikh household and subsequently converted to Christianity, although she continues to attend Sikh services out of respect for her parents’ culture.

Haley began her political career as a Republican, serving in the South Carolina House of Representatives for several years before becoming the state’s governor.

She was appointed as the United States ambassador to the United Nations in November 2016, making her the first non-white woman in Donald Trump’s cabinet.

More about Ron DeSantis

Ron DeSantis is an American politician who has served as Florida’s 46th governor since 2019.

He is a Republican who served in the United States House of Representatives from 2013 to 2018 representing Florida’s 6th congressional district.

DeSantis was a candidate for President of the United States in 2024 and was fighting with fellow candidate Nikki Haley for a spot second to Donald Trump.

However, the Florida governor has officially suspended his campaign and endorsed Trump.

DeSantis pledges his support to Trump

The Florida governor issued his endorsement of Donald Trump when announcing the suspension of his campaign.

“Trump is superior to the current incumbent, Joe Biden,” DeSantis remarked.

“I signed a pledge to support the Republican nominee, and I will honor that pledge — he has my endorsement because we can not go back to the old Republican guard of yesteryear.”

Ron DeSantis referenced Winston Churchill

The Florida governor shared his major announcement on X, formerly Twitter.

In his post, he referenced former United Kingdom Prime Minister Winston Churchill.

“Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts,” DeSantis wrote in the post’s caption.
