During a recent appearance on News Daily, Georgia Republican Senate candidate Mike Collins claimed that Sen. Jon Ossoff (D-GA) is poised to become the presidential candidate for the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA).
“Ossoff has aligned himself with an extreme left-wing group that opposes my ideals,” Collins remarked. He further contrasted their backgrounds by saying, “He’s a one-term senator, and I’ve served a term in the House. The contrast between us is staggering, from our upbringing to the decisions we make for Georgia.”
Collins criticized Ossoff’s political agenda, stating, “From economic policies dubbed as ‘Bidenomics’ to dealing with inflation and social issues, Ossoff’s agenda diverges significantly from what’s best for Georgia residents.” He believes these differences highlight Ossoff’s ambition for the presidency.
The Georgia Republican openly stated, “Ossoff is eyeing a presidential run as the DSA candidate, using Georgia merely as a financial springboard.” Collins characterized him as a “privileged individual” lacking real-world employment experience.
Collins pointed to electoral reforms made since 2020, highlighting tighter security measures such as eliminating drop boxes, restricting absentee ballots, and updating voter rolls. “We’ve strengthened our election system and introduced voter ID to combat criticisms like those from former President Joe Biden, who compared our efforts to ‘Jim Crow 2.0,’” he concluded.
“And in actuality, we’ve had more people vote than in the history of Georgia since that voter ID has been enacted,” Collins added, calling for the passage of the Save America Act
