House Republicans, led by Rep. Barry Loudermilk (R-GA), are launching a new select subcommittee to investigate the truth behind the events surrounding the January 6, 2021, Capitol protest. The move is at the urging of President Trump himself.
The subcommittee aims to challenge the findings of the previous Democrat-led January 6 committee, which was clearly a heavily biased, anti-Trump circus meant solely to derail the President’s previous campaign.
The President had told House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) before taking office that he wanted to new panel to investigate and correct the record regarding the mostly peaceful protest. Johnson had initially announced the creation of the subcommittee within days of Trump being sworn into office.
“I got called in by the president,” Loudermilk said, according to CNN. “We sat and talked for a while. And he was asking, ‘What is the stall?’ Because he had expected it to be done early in the year, too. We talked about it, he engaged with the speaker’s office.”
GOP GA Rep Loudermilk introduces a resolution establishing the new select subcommittee for the 119th Congress to continue Congress’ investigation into the events surrounding January 6, 2021.
