Night and day for Lewis Hamilton
Last year’s Australian Grand Prix was a bitter pill to swallow for the legendary seven-time world champion and his legions of Tifosi fans across the globe. Finishing in 10th place, while his teammate Charles Leclerc managed only eighth, marked the beginning of a challenging season for the Prancing Horse. Reflecting on those struggles, Hamilton admitted, “I lost sight of who I was” by the end of the season.
This year, however, the atmosphere is markedly different. Following the conclusion of the race, Hamilton exuded optimism and a renewed determination to challenge Mercedes, buoyed by his team’s impressive performance.
“I’m genuinely proud of the team. I think we’ve done an amazing job to get the car to where it is,” Hamilton remarked enthusiastically.
He acknowledged that while their pace doesn’t yet match Mercedes, the team is very much in the competition. “Of course, we’re not as fast as Mercedes, we’ve got work to do, but we’re right in the fight and it was a really, really fun race. It felt good for me also,” he added.
Hamilton’s confidence was evident as he mused, “A couple more laps and I would’ve had Charles, so I had great pace.” His words reflect a sense of readiness and anticipation for the battles ahead.
