In a recent episode of Bloomberg’s “Balance of Power,” Senator Rick Scott from Florida made some bold predictions about the future of Cuba’s leadership. During the Tuesday broadcast, Scott suggested that apprehending Raul Castro in Cuba would not pose a significant challenge. However, he speculated that Castro, seeking to evade the possibility of dying in a jail cell, would likely flee the country with his family before any such capture could occur.
Senator Scott highlighted past events, stating, “Let’s remember, the Cubans were supporting Maduro, and it took, what, seven minutes to take out Maduro? So, it won’t take much to pick up Raul Castro. And the people of Cuba are already –.”
This prompted co-host Kailey Leinz to interject, seeking clarity on his bold assertion. “You expect that to happen?” she inquired.
Scott confidently replied, “Absolutely, I expect that to happen.”
Leinz pressed further, asking, “You expect the U.S. to go in and get Castro?” indicating the gravity and implications of such an action.
Scott answered, “Well, here’s what I believe: I think Raul Castro is going to leave the country, along with his family. He doesn’t want to be in prison the rest of his life. I think he’s 95 years old. He doesn’t want to do what’s happened to Maduro and die in prison in the United States. So, I think he’s going to leave before we pick him up.”
