Roberta Taylor passed away at the age of 76.
Prior to joining the cast of The Bill as Inspector Gina Gold, the actress was most recognized for her work as Irene Raymond in the BBC soap opera, which ran from 1997 to 2000.
In her obituary, which was published in The Guardian, it was stated that she passed away on July 6th, ‘after an infection induced by a fall two months previously, disturbing her underlying health problems with pneumonia.’
She is survived by her son Elliott, two stepbrothers, a granddaughter, and her actor husband Peter Guinness.
Roberta’s final TV appearance was on Shakespeare & Hathaway, a comedy series on the BBC about private investigators.

Who Was Roberta Taylor?
Roberta Alexandra Mary Taylor was born on 26 February 1948 and she died on 6 July 2024.
She was an English actress and author. Her well-known roles were as Inspector Gina Gold in The Bill (2002–2008) and as Irene Raymond in EastEnders (1997–2000).
She performed as Princess Kosmonopolis in Tennessee Williams’ Sweet Bird of Youth in 1992 and as the Nurse in the Lyric Hammersmith production of Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare in 1995.
Additionally, she appeared on episodes of the TV shows Inspector Morse, Shakespeare and Hathaway, Holby City, Sharman, Doctors, and Silent Witness. She has made guest appearances on The Paul O’Grady Show and in the movies Tom & Viv (1994) and The Witches (1990). Additionally, she made an appearance on Lily Savage’s Blankety Blank as herself.
Alongside her acting career, Taylor was also an author. In October 2005, her first book, Too Many Mothers, a memoir of her childhood, was published.
In November 2008, her first novel The Reinvention of Ivy Brown, was published.
Roberta Taylor’s Husband And Children
She married Victor Taylor on 1 April 1966. The couple had a son Elliott but divorced in 1975.
Roberta met actor Peter Guinness while working with the Glasgow Citizens Theatre. They married in September 1996 after having been together for twenty years.
She had suffered from emphysema due to being a “dedicated smoker”. She died of pneumonia following a fall, on 6 July 2024, at the age of 76.
