SAMUEL Haskell Jr has a dark ‘obsession’, according to neighbors, and posted bizarre videos leaving viewers creeped out before allegedly killing his wife and in-laws.
The 35-year-old son of a Hollywood agent appeared in court in Los Angeles on Monday where he was denied bail.
Haskell Jr was arrested on November 8 on suspicion of killing and butchering his wife Mei, 37, after a woman’s torso was found in the trash at a strip mall in Encino, California.
Mei and her parents who lived with the couple at their $2.5million six-bedroom home are still missing but it is thought that the torso belonged to Haskell Jr’s wife.
On November 13, Haskell Jr was further charged with the deaths of Mei’s parents Goashan Li, 72, and Yanxiang Wang, 64.
The trio were last seen on or around November 6.
According to neighbors, the father of three was obsessed with weapons including samurai swords and guns.
“He definitely had a fixation, bordering on obsession for martial arts,” neighbor Elle Benami told The Post.
“There were also firearms and crossbows in their house.
“Their boys would tell my kids about the weapons, which always worried me — so much so that I wouldn’t let my kids alone upstairs in their home.
“I know Mei didn’t like having those things inside the house and she wanted him to get rid of them.”
Benami added that the night before Haskell Jr’s arrest at about around 9 pm, her daughter allegedly heard a scream from one of the Haskell children.
“My daughter’s room is on the side of the house that borders the Haskells’ property,” she said.
“My daughter said she heard a scream, ‘Help! Help! Hello?’ And then she heard a car door slam and screeching of tires and a car driving off.”

The three Haskell children Sam, James, and William have been placed in the care of other family members.
Meanwhile, TikTok users who sought out Haskell Jr’s account have called his behavior “bizarre” and “creepy.”
His TikTok account is under the name Samuel Basshinger (@tragicstreetz) where he posted clips of random shout-outs to brands and stores, ramblings while driving, and other miscellaneous things.
Comments under one video of a random shoutout to a restaurant saw viewers ask: “Do people actually act like this?”
“He can’t be serious. Like [for real] these videos are all so effing bizarre,” another added.
Throughout many of his clips, the Hollywood director would say “peace 100 percent” at random points.
“WHY DOES HE TALK LIKE THAT?? It’s so unnatural,” a third said.
Another video showing a snowy parking lot has an audio clip from Grey’s Anatomy saying: “Derek was epic for her they had a great love story. I mean that girl’s heart beat for Derek Shepherd.
“It just, it never occurred to me that she would ever be with anyone else. He was perfect. He was everything. That man turned her world.”
“This whole feed is just weird & creepy. Shout out to creep factor,” one viewer said.
Others added that the audio “is sending a message” related to his wife’s death and that “his videos show how messed up and unhappy he was.”
“These shocking and gruesome crimes have sent shockwaves through our community,” said Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón at the hearing on Monday.
He continued: “We stand with the victims’ loved ones during this unimaginably difficult time and will do everything in our power to ensure justice is served.
“Our Major Crimes Division will work tirelessly to bring about a prosecution that reflects the severity of this devastating crime.”
Haskell Jr’s arraignment is set for December 8, 2023. If convicted, he could face life in prison without parole.
