To what lengths will some political figures go to misrepresent federal immigration authorities? In a surprising move, Senator Dick Durbin (IL-D) recently displayed an AI-generated image on the Senate floor, claiming it depicted the “last second” before Alex Pretti was shot. The image, however, was not an authentic representation.
Senator Durbin, a leading Democrat, defended his use of the image, calling it both “graphic” and “necessary.” The image portrayed a CBP officer aiming a gun at Pretti’s head, with another officer kneeling nearby. Notably, the image contained glaring inaccuracies, such as the kneeling officer missing his head, highlighting its AI-generated nature rather than being a factual depiction.
Durbin’s presentation of the image, which he shared in a video of his Senate speech, occurs at the 52-second mark, showing him placing the picture on display for all to see.
Durbin can be seen putting the picture on a stand at 0:52 in the video he posted of his floor speech.Â
