A VET has vanished without a trace after a chilling video that appeared to show him kicking a horse in its face went viral. 

Shawn Frehner vanished without a trace on Monday and crews in Nevada are honing their search on the Lake Mead area.

Frehner, a vet with more than two decades of experience, reportedly headed to the lake after the clip surfaced online.

He appeared to be kicking a horse that was on the ground, and the clip sparked outrage, as reported by the Fox affiliate KVVU-TV.

The reason why Frehner headed to the lake was because his integrity was questioned, family members told the outlet. 

They claimed the clip was taken out of context, but said he had been targeted online. 

Cops in Nye County have revealed they are investigating the footage, as reported by The Las Vegas Review-Journal. 

They are investigating allegations of animal cruelty.

Rescue crews in Nevada have been frantically searching for Frehner. 

There have been boots on the ground, and aerial resources have also been deployed. 

But, details about Frehner’s last movements remain scant. 

Cops have not revealed when the equine doctor was last seen. 

A post from the American Association of Equine Practitioners was shared on Frehner’s Facebook business page on Friday.

And, last week, he uploaded a post, warning about the risks if pastures are not regularly inspected.

Frehner, an avid motorcyclist, received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from The Ohio State University in 1997.

He started his own business in Las Vegas in 1998.

Lake Mead is the largest reservoir in the US based on water capacity.

But, the reservoir has been in the national news in recent years after several sets of human remains were found.

STRING OF DISCOVERIES

In May 2022, a barrel was found containing human remains and cops to this day have still not been able to positively identify them.

Cops believe the victim was killed in the late 1980s, according to the CBS affiliate KLAS-TV.

More than two years later, police shared images of items belonging to the man.

They shared a picture of a blue sneaker that was covered in mud, as well as trousers that had patches of dirt.

And, investigators also shared images of a silver Timex digital watch, and as well as an Idle Time shirt.

A NAMUS (National Missing and Unidentified Persons System) database entry revealed the condition of the remains is “not recognizable.”

Two discoveries were made within the space of six days in May 2022.

Thomas Erndt’s body was positively identified more than 20 years after he jumped into the water.

Claude Russell Pensinger vanished in July 1998 before being formally identified in April 2023.

Donald Smith drowned in Lake Mead in April 1974 and his remains were not identified until March 2023. 

Investigators reached their conclusion five months after a diver came across a bone near the shoreline.
