TROOPS of the California National Guard are seen protecting the Pacific Palisades neighbourhood from the fallout of the devastating LA wildfires.

The guardsmen were pictured at Will Rogers State Historic Park on Tuesday.

Around 2,500 in total have been drafted in to help fight the fires and prevent looting.

The blazes have killed 25, destroyed 12,000 buildings and other structures and burned through more than 60 square miles of land.

There were tonight still 26 people missing and 82,000 people under evacuation orders.

Cops say they have made 44 arrests so far in connection with the fires.

It includes six people who were held on suspicion of trying to start new fires.

The suspects were arrested for separate incidents across the city, the LAPD said.

There are currently over six million people under critical fire threat across Southern California.

California Fire said that the Eaton fire in LA’s eastern suburb of Altadena is now the most destructive and deadly wildfire in Southern California’s history.

Meanwhile, the Pacific Palisades fire which has decimated one of LA’s ritziest neighbourhoods is the second most destructive ever in the region.
